Drive Through PolicyWritten: Term 1 2005, Updated: Term 1 2008, Review: Term 4 2008
Purpose
This policy attempts to ensure the safety of our students as they leave the school grounds via drive through in a car.
Broad guidelines
Teachers
1. Teachers rostered on drive through duty must be punctual to the drive through area.
2. Two teachers on duty, this will include the Principal or the Deputy Principal.
3. Teacher A uses the microphone to call students to the front area.
4. Teacher B moves students to the outside drive through lane.
5. Teachers walk the students to the front of the drive through line and open the back car door.
6. Teachers are to ensure that students not collected by 3.15 p.m. are to be walked to the office area and that the office assistant is informed.
7. During wet weather children will line up on the verandah near the pavers.
8. Teachers open back door of car.
Parents
1. Parents must display a large visual name card in the front window.
2. Parents must stay in the car when car is in drive through
3. Parents make 2 lines at the large bin and then single file to have their child placed in the car.
4. Parents must move down to the white crossing line at the front of drive through to have their child/children placed in their car.
5. If your child has gone to the incorrect area the parent needs to loop around and come back while the child is found.
6. Parents arriving after 3.20 p.m. will need to collect their children from the school office.
Students
1. Students must sit with siblings or other children going home in the same car.
2. Students need to sit quietly and listen for their names to be called.
3. When the family name is called the students move to the microphone area and wait for the car placement teacher to collect them.
4. Students must walk sensibly and hold the hands of siblings.
5. Students not collected by 3.15 p.m. will be taken to the office area.
6. Students must close the door themselves.
Basis of Discretion
There will be times when the weather requires the students to be seated differently or for more teachers to be on duty. Safety is of the utmost importance at all times. |
